The illustrations displayed below are a mixture of personal and client projects.
Typically when designing characters, I start off with a round of sketches (either in a sketchbook or drawn directly in Photoshop). After the design and color scheme have been decided, they are cleaned up in Adobe Illustrator and put into vector format.

Manifest Destiny: A Fates Calling
The pieces here were commissioned by Director Justin Chambers to serve as production art for his upcoming film. Since it has not yet been released, I can’t say much about the film, but as you can see from the illustrations, it is quite obviously fantasy. Other:
Figure drawings are drawings of the human figure and are a great method for measuring an artist’s skill. Any artist can tell you how important they are to becoming a better artist, and they remain a staple of any illustrator’s portfolio; mine is no different.
Gesture Drawings
Gesture Drawings are a great way to warm up your drawing arm at the beginning of a figure drawing session. The model holds the pose for sometimes no more than a minute which forces you to render the form as quickly as possible.
Long Poses
The images here are from longer poses ranging from 10 minutes to a couple of hours. Various media used here include: graphite, conté crayon, colored pencil, and charcoal.

Oil Paintings
Painting is the most recent skill I’ve added to my repertoire. Added only in the past couple of years, it originally sprung from an artistic curiosity to try out new media. It quickly evolved into a passion and hobby, but not yet one that I’ve been able to perfect. In the future, I hope to post more examples of my paintings here.
Pyrography
Ok, so admittedly it’s not painting. But pyrography, also called wood-burning, doesn’t exactly fit into any other category on this site. However, like oil painting, I started it on a whim to try something new. They’re a lot of fun to do, and they make great gifts for family.

Manifest Destiny: A Fates Calling
After completing the concept art for Manifest Destiny, I was charged with the task of storyboarding the entirety of Justin Chamber’s short film. I worked closely with the director to layout the shot-by-shot blueprints of the film. This was no small feat as the final project included over 500 illustrations.
Since the film has not yet been released, I cannot post these scenes in their entirety, but I’ve included a few small snippets to show you an example of the type of work that I did. For more information about Justin Chambers and his film, please visit their website.
